Lamborghini, in collaboration with Animoca Brands, is making its Web3 debut with a new digital platform dubbed Fast ForWorld.
The venture brings interoperable digital supercars into the gaming space, allowing gamers to experience Lamborghini in a new way.
Announced on October 2, Fast ForWorld is designed to offer users an interactive playground where they can explore, play, and collect digital car assets while earning rewards for their participation. The platform will officially launch on November 7 and introduce digital car collectibles that can be traded and used across numerous games in Animoca’s Motorverse ecosystem.
What differentiates these digital supercars is their interconnectivity. Players can use them on a variety of platforms, including Torque Drift 2, REVV Racing, the Motorverse Hub, and Fast ForWorld’s exclusive environment. Developed by Gravitaslabs, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, the platform also offers a 3D wallet where users can securely store and manage their digital items.
A new era for Lamborghini in Web3
Lamborghini’s partnership with Animoca Brands, announced in August, is part of the luxury carmaker’s ongoing efforts to explore the Web3 market. The partnership seeks to provide fans and customers with one-of-a-kind digital experiences that extend the Lamborghini brand in the virtual realm.
This is not Lamborghini’s first blockchain-powered project. In 2022, itcollaborated with NFT PRO and INVNT to release a series of NFTs featuring its iconic cars. The “Road Trip NFT” project, which ran until March 2023, featured exclusive monthly NFT collections inspired by various global destinations.
At the time, Christian Mastro, Lamborghini’s marketing director, described NFTs as a “new form of expression for new generations,” emphasising the company’s dedication to innovation. Lamborghini even created waves when RM Sotheby’s auctioned off the last Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Coupé, which was paired by a unique NFT, combining physical luxury with the digital realm in the form of a tokenised asset.
According to Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, the partnership with Lamborghini establishes a new era of interoperable digital vehicles and digital engagement.
Web3 gaming’s growing popularity
As Web3 gaming continues to attract millions of users, major brands are moving into this expanding market. On July 30, the Telegram game Hamster Kombat was reported to having over 300 million users. Another game, Catizen, reached 800,000 paying users in its first six months.
Lamborghini isn’t the only well-known brand that sees Web3 gaming’s potential. Shoe brand Puma recently announced a partnership with Web3 football game UNKJD, with the goal of introducing Puma-branded characters and in-game features. The partnership comes after Puma launched Black Station, a 3D metaverse platform that offers Puma Pass NFT holders exclusive access to product drops.
